SIG Programs Include:

SIG was formed in 1978 as a quasi-governmental agency called a Joint Powers Authority, forming a partnership for the purpose of maximizing insurance dollars for school districts. The primary goal has consistently been to use the combined size and strength of a united school community to provide stable, quality programs at an affordable cost.

All of SIG’s revenue (except interest income) comes from the 30 school districts in Placer and Nevada Counties,
2 school districts in El Dorado County, 1 district in Yuba County, and 1 district in Sacramento County.

Over 90% of all monies spent by SIG go directly to the districts’ employees for health care and Workers' Compensation benefits or for property/casualty losses at the schools.
